HONG KONG CANOE UNION

Introduction

The Hong Kong Canoe Union Ltd. (HKCU) was incorporated in 1975 and affiliated to the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), International Canoe Federation (ICF) and Asian Canoe Confederation (ACC). Over 8,000 members from 44 affiliated clubs are participating in the canoeing sports in Hong Kong with strong support from the President and Vice-presidents.

 

Objectives

  1. Promotion of canoeing sports in Hong Kong, including various disciplines namely: Canoe Sprint, Canoe Slalom, Canoe Polo, Traditional Boat / Dragon Boat, Canoe Marathon and Canoe Ocean Racing etc. Boats categories include Kayak, Canoe, dragon boat, surf-ski, sea-kayak and stand-up paddle board.

  2. Development and the training for the elite athletes in Hong Kong

  3. Selection and training of Hong Kong canoe athletes to participate in the Asian Games, Olympics Games, World/Regional Championship and other overseas competitions.

  4. Development of junior athletes through training system.

  5. Development of training system for coaches, referees and competition officials

  6. Organizing of local competition and international events.

  7. Supporting and assisting the affiliate club members in organizing canoeing sports in the community.
